Answers: Can I use GGAB if I'm under 18? / Can my child or teenager use GGAB? / How old do you have to be to use GGAB? / How does my parent approve my GGAB account? / How do I withdraw approval for my child's GGAB account? / Why can't I find a junior player in friend search?

This page explains how GGAB works for players under 18. It covers who needs a parent or guardian to approve their account, how approval works, and what's different for juniors. If you're a parent, it also shows how to approve your child's account, or withdraw approval later.

## Age rules

GGAB is for players 13 years old and over. You give your date of birth when you sign up, and it decides which rules apply to you.

| Age | What happens |
|---|---|
| Under 13 | You can't have a GGAB account. |
| 13 to 15 | A parent or guardian approves your account by email before you can use it. |
| 16 and 17 | You agree to the Terms yourself. The junior protections below still apply. |
| 18 and over | No age rules apply. |

If a coach creates your account for you, a parent or guardian has to approve it whenever you're under 18, including at 16 and 17.

The junior protections stop on your 18th birthday. You don't need to do anything.

You can't change your date of birth yourself once it's saved. To correct it, email support@getgoodatbadminton.com.

## Sign up if you're 13 to 15

### On the web

1. Open the sign-up page and fill in your details.
2. Enter your **Date of birth**. A **Parent or guardian's email** box appears.
3. Enter your parent or guardian's email. It has to be different from yours.
4. Tick the box to agree to the **Terms of Service** and **Privacy Policy**. Read both to the end, then press **I agree**.
5. Press **Ask my parent or guardian**.

You see **Over to your parent or guardian**. Nothing is charged, and nothing about you is used until they approve.

### In the app

1. On the sign-in screen, tap **New to GGAB? Create an account**.
2. Fill in your **Name**, **Email** and **Password**, then pick your **Date of birth**.
3. Enter your **Parent or guardian's email**.
4. Tap the box to agree to the **Terms of Service** and **Privacy Policy**. Read both, then tap **I agree to both**.
5. Tap **Create account**.

The app signs you in and shows **Waiting for your parent or guardian**.

### While you wait

- GGAB shows **Waiting for your parent or guardian** on the web and in the app. Everything else is locked, and the only button is **Sign out**.
- You can't buy a plan until they approve.
- If the address was wrong or the email never arrived, email support@getgoodatbadminton.com.
- If they don't approve within 14 days, the account is deleted. You can sign up again.

### Once they approve

We email you to say you're approved. Then choose a plan to start using GGAB.

If the app still shows the waiting screen, tap **Check again**. It also checks each time you come back to the app. On the web, reload the page.

## How a parent or guardian approves

You don't need a GGAB account. The link in the email is all you need.

1. Open the email from GGAB with the subject "Please approve a GGAB App account".
2. Press **Review and approve**.
3. Read **What GGAB does with their data** and **Always off for players under 18**.
4. Press **Approve *name*'s account**. The button shows the player's name.

You see **Approved.** and the player can use GGAB straight away.

> **Keep the approval email**
>
> The link in it is how you manage the account later, including withdrawing approval. Only the newest approval email for a player works.

**To say no:** press **Decline and delete the account**, then **Yes, delete it**. The account and everything in it is deleted straight away.

**If you don't recognise the email:** ignore it. The account is removed automatically after 14 days.

## What's different for players under 18

- **No ads.** You never see ads on GGAB. Once you've signed in on a browser, GGAB's public pages skip ads in that browser too.
- **No usage analytics.** We don't measure how you use GGAB, on the web or in the app. On the web, the **Usage analytics** setting says **Off for players under 18.** In the app it shows **Off under 18**.
- **Hidden from friend search.** Other players can't find you by name, but a friend can still add you by your email. On the web, **Find me in friend search** explains this. In the app it shows **Not listed**.
- **No marketing email.** The sign-up box for training tips, product news and offers isn't shown to you. The **Marketing email** setting says **Not available for players under 18.** on the web and **Not available under 18** in the app.
- **No affiliate program.** Players under 18 are never enrolled as GGAB affiliates.

To see these settings:

- **Web:** open your account menu at the top right, choose **Settings**, then the **Privacy** tab.
- **App:** open the menu, tap **Settings**, and find them under **About**.

## Withdraw approval or delete the account

### As a parent or guardian

1. Open the approval email again and press **Review and approve**.
2. The page now shows the player's account. Press **Withdraw approval and delete *name*'s account**.
3. Press **Yes, delete it** to confirm, or **Keep it** to go back.

Withdrawing approval deletes the account, its matches and its videos. It can't be undone.

### As the player

Once your account is approved, you can delete it yourself like any other account. See [How to delete your GGAB account](https://getgoodatbadminton.com/docs/delete-account).

## Confirm your date of birth

Some accounts made before GGAB asked for ages see a one-time **Confirm your date of birth** screen. Enter your **Date of birth**, agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and press **Continue**. In the app, the Terms open after you tap **Continue**. If you're 13 to 15, you also enter a **Parent or guardian's email**, and the account waits for their approval as above.

If the date shows you're under 13, GGAB can't keep the account. You see **GGAB is for players 13 and over** and a **Delete my account** button.

## If a coach adds a player under 18

- The coach enters the player's date of birth and a parent or guardian's email. Players under 13 can't be added.
- The guardian gets an approval email that names the coach. Approving, declining and withdrawing work the same way as above.
- Until the guardian approves, the player shows **Waiting for guardian** on the coach's roster. The coach can't track matches, assign training or ask the AI about them.
