## What Training is for

Training is your calendar and your training record in one place: what you're
going to do, what you actually did, and whether it's working. You don't need any
tracked matches to use it.

Open it from **Training** in the sidebar. It has four parts:

| | |
|---|---|
| **Sessions** | Your calendar. Plan future training, log what you've done. |
| **My Workouts** | Reusable sessions built from the exercise library. |
| **My Plans** | Workouts laid out across weeks. |
| **Exercise Library** | Everything GGAB ships, plus exercises you add. |

## The calendar

The Sessions page shows a calendar of your training, with the year along the
side. Click a day to see just that day, or **Clear** to see everything again.
Each card tells you how long the session ran, how many activities it had, and
what kind they were.

Sessions are one of two things, and we work out which from the date:

- **Planned** — dated in the future. Something you intend to do.
- **Logged** — dated now or in the past. A record of training that happened.

## Create a session

Click **New session**. You'll set:

- A **title** — "Tuesday club night", "Lower body + court sprints".
- A **date** and **start time**.
- **Drills and activities** — add as many as you like, each with a type, a
length, and notes. Reorder or remove them here or later.
- **Repeat**, if it's a future session. See below.

## Inside a session

Open any session to work on it:

- **Details** — change the title, date, time and notes.
- **Activities** — add, reorder or remove them with **+ Add activity**.
- **Exercises** — if a workout was scheduled here (by you or your coach), each
exercise shows what was prescribed and lets you log your sets against it.
You can pull anything else in from the library with **Add an exercise**.
- **Notes** — your thoughts after practice.
- **Delete session** — see [Deleting one](#deleting-one) if it repeats.

## Reflect with the assistant

Click **Reflect with assistant** to talk a session through. It asks you
questions and you answer each one; each answer costs about 100 tokens. Your
reflection is saved as questions and answers you can read back later.

## Repeating sessions

Plan a session for a future date and you'll see a **Repeat** section:

**Repeats every** *[ week ]* — a pill you can change from 1 up to 8 weeks.

Then the seven days, one per row, Sunday down to Saturday. Tap a day to select
it and a checkmark appears on the right. Tap it again to clear it.

**No days selected means the session doesn't repeat.** There's no separate
on/off switch to get out of step with your choices.

The days you pick are the days it repeats on — they don't have to include the
day you're creating it on. Building a session on a Tuesday and ticking Monday,
Tuesday and Friday gives you all three every week.

So all of these work:

- Every week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
- Every 2 weeks on Tuesday and Thursday
- Every 3 weeks on Saturday

Under **Ends**, choose Never, a date, or a number of times.

Whatever you pick, we show it back in plain words — *"Every 2 weeks on Monday
and Thursday"* — under the picker and at the top of every session in the series.

The date you picked anchors the pattern. "Every 2 weeks" counts from that week,
so the same rule started a week later lands on the opposite weeks.

### Deleting one

Deleting a repeating session asks what you mean, the way a calendar does:

- **This session** — just that one. The rest carry on.
- **This and everything after** — ends the series from that date. Earlier ones stay.
- **The whole series** — every upcoming session, and it stops repeating.

Two things are always kept, whichever you choose: sessions in the **past**, and
any session where you've already **set goals or written a reflection**. Those
stop repeating but stay on your calendar as ordinary sessions.

**A single deletion sticks.** If you cancel one Thursday, that Thursday stays
cancelled — we only fill in weeks we haven't filled before. If you saw deleted
sessions come back before, that was a bug and it's fixed.

### The days you set at sign-up

When you signed up we asked which days you usually train, and made those
repeating too. **Training → open any of those sessions → Manage all repeating
sessions** lists every series you have, where you can change the days and times
or turn them off entirely. On mobile it's the Training tab, then **Recurring
schedule**.

## Let the assistant run your calendar

Every Training page has the assistant on the right — the chat icon opens it, or
the button in the corner on a phone. It isn't only for questions: it can do
anything you can do on these pages.

**Planning:**

> "I've got a tournament on the 18th. Build me a 3-week block leading into it,
> two gym sessions and one court session a week, and put it in my calendar."

> "Book me in every Tuesday and Thursday evening until the end of the month."

**Changing things:**

> "What have I got this week?"

> "Push Thursday's session to Friday."

> "Cancel Friday."

> "That Monday session was 90 minutes, not 60."

> "Stop adding training to my calendar."

**Building and logging:**

> "Make me a lower body workout with squats, RDLs and Copenhagen planks."

> "Add 5×5 back squats at 100kg to Thursday."

> "I did the squats but only got 3 on the last set."

Things worth knowing:

- **It looks before it edits.** Ask it to change something and it finds the
session first, so you can refer to "Thursday" rather than hunting for an id.
- **Creating a plan doesn't schedule it.** It builds the plan, then asks when
you want to start. Nothing lands on your calendar until you say so.
- **Scheduled sessions are a snapshot.** Editing a plan afterwards won't change
  sessions already on your calendar.
- **Deleting a logged session destroys the record**, so it will confirm that one
with you first. Moving or editing a planned session it just does.
- **Everything it does, you can undo** from these pages by hand.

## Workouts, plans, and the exercise library

**Exercise Library** holds everything GGAB ships — around 70 strength, power,
speed, conditioning, mobility, recovery and testing exercises — plus anything
you add. Search by name or nickname ("rfess" finds the Bulgarian split squat),
filter by category, and star the ones you reach for most so they're first next
time. **Create exercise** adds your own, including badminton drills with their
own shot pattern and restrictions. Your exercises are private to you. GGAB's are
read-only, but **Duplicate** gives you your own copy to change.

**My Workouts** is a reusable session: pick exercises, set what you want
performed for each (sets, reps, load, RPE, rest — the fields change to suit the
exercise), and save. Schedule it whenever you want to do it.

**My Plans** lays workouts across weeks — week 1 Monday, week 1 Thursday, and so
on. Schedule a plan and every session lands on your calendar from the start date
you pick. **Copy week** saves retyping when a block repeats.

Scheduling either one copies it onto your calendar. Editing the workout or plan
afterwards won't change sessions that are already scheduled — so you can keep
improving a template without rewriting your own history.

If you have a coach, they use the same tools and can assign workouts and plans
to you. Those arrive on your calendar with their name on them.

## How Training connects

Your sessions build up a history that **Ask GGAB** can draw on, so your practice and reflections can shape what you see in your insights. Pair your training notes with [Performance Insights](https://getgoodatbadminton.com/docs/insights) to turn your match patterns into a practice plan.
